Objective
To create a new identity for Mingei International Museum’s monthly Family Sunday event with updated vector illustrations. To make the treasure map easily transportable and enjoyable to complete.
Solution
A new name for the event "Domingei", a play on the Spanish word "domingo" (Sunday) and Mingei. It can be read as "Do Mingei" as well as "Domingei" to appeal to English and Spanish speaking families. Replacing outdated illustrations with new creatures that are reminiscent of objects and materials used in the Museum’s collection. Finding a new legible typeface to replace the previous identity and creating a system for the question/answer layout on the treasure map. Additionally, making the treasure map foldable in quarters instead of a giant sheet for children to easily carry as they trek through the museum.
The previous treasure map design was originally a long sheet of 11x17" paper. Treasure map was redone to be folded into quarters for children to easily carry as they go through the museum.
Emily worked on the logo and the treasure map's design while I created the illustrations (creatures and patterns) and color palette.
