ANIMAL CROSSING NEW HORIZONS
During quarantine in 2020, like many other organizations, the Museum had to pivot to more digital content. I’ve loved Animal Crossing ever since I picked up a GameCube and the game from a swap meet. It’s always been my comfort game and when New Horizons came out in 2020, I knew it would feel like that for so many people, especially at a time when things felt so unknown and scary.
Mingei’s collection varies from armadillo figurines to paper elephants to coats across the globe. I’ve felt inspired by the collection whenever I design and being someone who just loves Animal Crossing, I decided to create clothing inspired by the collection.
